Inaugurated in 1986, QFCUH is the only Belgian university hospital entirely reserved for children's medicine : all is conceived for them and for their parents. From birth to adolescence, the children receive there the most complete care in respect of the Children in Hospital Charter. As a public medico-surgical hospital of 183 beds, QFCUH guarantees quality care and modern medicine accessible to all children.

Paediatric surgery of the QFCUH honoured

Two video achievements of the department of Surgery were rewarded :

A didactic video entitled "Minimal invasive repair of pectus excavatum" has just received the prestigious Edgar-Ungeheuer prize for the year 2008. It rewards the best surgical video of the year, granted jointly by the German and Austrian Societies of Surgery in Berlin on April 22, 2008.
The IRCAD (Strasbourg) awarded on May 5, 2008, the 3rd prize for a video entitled "Thoracoscopy in children" (Dr. Karim KHELIF) within the framework of an international competition (WeBSurg Award 2008) concerning all fields of surgery. Karl Storz endoscopic material was offered to the first three winner teams.

The Paediatric Surgery Department of the QFCUH can in addition be proud of increasing numbers of live operating demonstrations abroad.
