Queen Fabiola Children's University Hospital and its Child Psychiatry Department decided on 1st February 2012 to promote the development of a Psychology unit, consisting of clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists of the various paediatric and child psychiatric services of the hospital.
The activities of the unit revolve around four main objectives: psychological liaison (all the paediatric services of the hospital), the outpatient unit in the child psychiatric service including the Autism reference Center called “Autrement”, the child psychiatric hospital (salle 69) as well as a Day Center “La Contre-Allée”.
The Psychology unit is actively involved in three domains: clinical work, research, and teaching. Each child is examined in its entirety (psychological, medical, and social aspects of the child and its family). We value the complementarity and the interdependence of the psychological and somatic approaches. Collaboration continues with the Free Brussels University, the department of Psychology and Education, is maintained by the various courses which are taught in the 2nd and 3rd cycle, supervision of psychologists carrying out their externship and the supervision of their Masters Thesis (supervision and participation in the jury at the end of their studies).
Various research has been carried out thanks to different treatment facilities :
This positive evaluation of the richness of our current activities allows us to project into the future with optimism by programming the development of this paramedical activity essential for the child, its family, and the hospital for many years to come.
