Why get tested?
Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder.
The test reveals whether you carry the gene responsible.
If both parents are carriers, there is a risk that the child may be born with the severe form of the condition.
Knowing your genetic status allows you to make informed decisions — with access to appropriate medical and reproductive guidance.
