World Sickle Cell Day – 19 June 2026
Brussels, 19 June 2026 – On the occasion of World Sickle Cell Day, the non-profit organisation Sang pour Sang, in collaboration with the Belgian Red Cross, will be present in the main entrance hall of the Hôpital Universitaire des Enfants Reine Fabiola (HUDERF) for a day dedicated to raising awareness and providing information about sickle cell disease.
Whether you are a patient, parent, family member, healthcare professional, or simply interested in learning more, we would be delighted to welcome you and answer your questions.

Sickle Cell Disease at the H.U.B.
At the Brussels University Hospital (H.U.B), the management of sickle cell disease is based on close collaboration between the paediatric teams at HUDERF and the adult teams at Erasme Hospital.
This organisation ensures specialised care throughout life, from diagnosis in childhood through to follow-up in adulthood. Multidisciplinary teams provide screening, medical follow-up, prevention of complications, transfusion programmes and access to the latest treatment options.
